Welcome to Our Homeschool Blog!

We're a little Charlotte Mason,

a little wild and free,

but first and foremost,

we're 100% Cherokee.

I'm Twila, a data analyst turned genealogist turned homeschool grandma raising and educating three of my grandchildren, including two with ADHD, one with dyslexia, and all survivors of the trauma of losing their mother in a tragic accident two years ago.

I don't plan on reinventing the wheel with this blog. There are numerous bloggers, vloggers, and Instagram influencers for the homeschool community. They review curriculum and give advice. I'm not saying this blog won't contain some of that, but my main purpose for starting this blog is to share how our Cherokee family lives, day in and day out, while homeschooling.

I also hope to share some bits and pieces of Cherokee history as I teach it at the elementary level to my grandchildren. There's a lot of mythology on the internet concerning Cherokees, so I'd like this to be a place for homeschool families to get accurate information on a variety of Cherokee topics. Questions will always be welcome and appreciated.

If you are interested in following along, please subscribe to our blog so you will be notified each time a new post is published. Thank you for visiting and reading about our plans. You are appreciated.

Until next time,

Disclosure:

This is not my first or only blog. I'm the author of the Cherokee history and genealogy blog, Thoughts from Polly's Granddaughter. My most notable research projects include the exploration of the ancestry of U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren; investigating the Gardner Green claim made by groups pretending to be tribes; and analysis of the Mount Tabor Indian Community claim about the Texas Cherokees. My research has been featured on the Tucker Carlson Tonight show; America Live! with Megyn Kelly; both Laura Ingraham television & radio shows; in the LA Times, the Riverfront Times (St. Louis), and the Boston Herald; as well as numerous regional television and radio programs. I've had articles published in the Cherokee Phoenix and Indian Country Today and I've been a consultant on numerous books, articles, podcasts, and television programs.
