Of course the children love many of the classics, but most of those are recommended in our literature curriculum so here I decided to share books the kids love that fall under the topic of diversity and inclusion. We don't read any book on a Native topic that is written by a non-Native. That's a personal decision I've made so if you know of a popular children's book not listed here, there is a chance the author is not as authentic as they claim to be, especially if the book is older and well known. I've had ample time to review those books and decided not to include them for a reason.

* = authentic Cherokee

** = authentic Native, but not Cherokee
